We thoroughly enjoyed an overnight stay at the Lord Elgin while attending Bluesfest in Ottawa. Room was spacious, staff was very friendly and the downtown location was great for walking to many of Ottawa’s historic sites.

We had an excellent stay with great service from friendly staff, clean rooms and facilities and great location. Our only concern was that the hotel is under heavy construction, and we obtained valet parking. Every time we retrieved our car, it was covered in caustic dust from cutting concrete, and it’s really bad for the paint and hot on everything. The hotel should have put the valet cars somewhere else during construction or not charge $50/ day for valet parking.

Be a part of history. I had a wonderful one-night stay at Lord Elgin Hotel, and it truly felt like stepping into a piece of history. The hotel has a rich, iconic presence—built in the post-World War II era—and knowing that figures like Winston Churchill once stayed here added a special touch to the experience. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a cozy bed and a modern smart TV. The hotel amenities are excellent as well, including a well-equipped gym, a swimming pool, and a relaxing jacuzzi. One of the biggest highlights is the location. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the beautiful Rideau Canal, and Parliament Hill is also very close—simply step out of the hotel and walk left down the road. Everything you need is within easy reach. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the stay even better. Overall, a fantastic blend of history, comfort, and location. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My family stayed at Lord Elgin to attend a memorial. All of our rooms were placed on the same floor. We enjoyed gathering for meals and drinks in the restaurant and met by the beautiful warm fireplace. The hotel is in a great location downtown and offers an indoor pool and gym. The staff was very helpful and attentive. We felt very well cared for. Special thanks are due to Mariyam, guest services supervisor, who wrote each of us a note of condolence, with flowers, chocolates and a small package of tissues. It was an extraordinary gesture, greatly appreciated by all of us. I highly recommend this hotel.

An exceptional stay start to finish! I ultimately chose this hotel over another well known property nearby, and that decision was made entirely because of two conversations I had with a staff member, Alexa, prior to booking. From the outset, he delivered a level of professionalism, warmth, and attentiveness that is rarely experienced. He anticipated needs, answered every question thoroughly, and ensured that every detail would be taken care of. That level of service before even securing a reservation, was truly impressive. Upon arrival, every expectation was not only met but exceeded. The experience continued seamlessly with Talia at the front desk, who provided a warm, and highly professional welcome. Her attention to detail and genuine hospitality set the tone for the entire stay and reflected a team that clearly prioritizes guest experience. The room itself was well maintained spacious, quiet, and comfortable, allowing for a truly restful stay. Housekeeping was equally impressive. The property was clean throughout, and my room was maintained to a very high standard each day. Veronica from housekeeping deserves special recognition for her care, and friendliness. As someone who travels frequently and stays in hotels often, this experience stands out as one of the best. While you can find a clean and comfortable hotel in a lot of places, what truly sets this property apart is the caliber of its team who are genuinely committed to delivering an elevated guest experience. I will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable, truly exceptional stay in Ottawa.

My family and I travel to Canada multiple times throughout the year and stayed the weekend at the Lord Elgin Hotel. I found our stay enjoyable throughout! The staff were friendly and always had a smile. The rooms were clean, and adequate with our two kids. The pool and hot tub were clean and large for swimming laps, and the location was great. It was amazingly quiet and we barely heard any noise from anybody. There are many places to eat that are easily walkable and we did just that. We decided to park across the street in the parking garage since construction was being done and felt that would hinder us from getting in and out quickly. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, it gave a nice historic feel!

One of the greats! Gorgeous yesteryear facade and beautiful foyer! Doors leading into lobby are huge heavy glass and metal that make a great first impression!! The sitting areas within the lobby are so well accommodated with rich chunky leather chairs and ottomans. Numerous lounging spaces for guests to relax….we grabbed a deck of cards and played near the fireplace …had a quiet bit of time chatting and admiring the sweet calm of the lower lobby floor. Love the warm colours in the hotel. Floors are clean and the tile so lovely as is with all decor. Beds were sooooo comfortable! Plenty of pillows and comfy bedding. The noise in halls was undetectable through the night. Maybe due to well insulated floors and walls or just got lucky( we weee there in a weekend so bonus). Doors to rooms made no noticeable bang(as is often the case with many hotels) Amazing breakfast in the Fourty One on main floor. Proximity to Parliament buildings and many restaurants is a bonus. The Rideau is close by to walk to. Parking at City Hall was cheap. We left our car over several days and walked or used Uber.

Bich, she’s the 8th floor concierge and housekeeper, did a wonderful job and warmly welcomed and took care of me and my room during my May 24 to May 30 stays. I appreciate her and other team members on the 8th floor, whenever I needed something during the daytime when they worked, they helped me out. Bich and her teammates are the reason for making this historical place outstanding! The hotel itself was decent and the stay green get $5 per night was great and I got in-room dining for free because of staying green! Food was delicious.

My mom and I were just there for 3 days. When you walked in, the ambience and the old look of the hotel was so cool and beautiful. The staff were phenomenal, especially the servers and bartenders at Restaurant, they went above and beyond to make it a great day and experience. And service was top notch!. We would just go down to see the same friendly awesome people! We felt very welcomed. And the food was amazing 🙂 ( The brunch and Charcuterie Board) Definitely one of the best places I've ever stayed! Thanks everyone there for making our experience perfect 🙂💚 Andrea ( North Bay)
